Choose a part of town to find a Bar, Restaurant or Store that carries Legend Beers Part of Town:
Lager
Our lightest beer is our Lager. Lager beers are brewed with a bottom fermenting yeast that works at relatively cool temperatures (45° – 55° F). The yeast consumes one more type of complex sugar than an ale yeast, thus creating a slightly lighter and less sweet style of beer. This beer is brewed in the style of a premium export lager. 100% two-row malted barley gives this brew a malty aroma and a medium-light body. A subtle balanced hopping is provided by Hallertau and Saaz. Alcohol is 4.8% by volume (ABV).

Brown Ale
Our most popular beer at Legend is our Brown Ale. A style with the origins predating modern brewing practices, the brewing of Brown Ale as we know it began in 1927 in Newcastle, England. This version was paler and dryer than previous brown ales to compete with the popular pale ales of Burton, England. Our full-bodied version of a Brown Ale is brewed with Caramel and Roasted malts and hopped for balance with Tettnang and Mt. Hood. 6.0% ABV.

Porter
Our darkest year-round brew is Porter. A style originating in London in 1722, porter was extinct in Britain by the late 1970’s. Originally a beer meant to simulate the common practice of combining three different strength beers (known as an entire), porter gave way to Stout Porter (now known as Stout). Our Porter is rich, roasty and loaded with chocolate and coffee flavors. This sweet black ale is a robust full-bodied brew. Alcohol is 6% by volume.

Golden Ale
India Pale Ale is a style of beer brewed to be high in alcohol and heavily hopped in order to survive the long journey from the pale ale-brewing center of Burton, England to far off British colonies, especially India. British troops in India could not produce good beer and they could not safely drink the local water, so English brewers came up with a beer that would mature on the long ocean voyage around Africa to the far east. Our version of IPA is deep golden in color and not hopped
as heavily as some other interpretations. This Legend cult classic has a full body and is very high in alcohol,
at over 7% by volume. It is hopped with Mt. Hood for balance. 35 International Bitterness Units

Pilsner
Pilsner is the most imitated style of beer in the world. Prior to the 1840's all beers were dark and cloudy. In 1842 a new brewery in Pilsen, Bohemia introduced a brew that was golden and clear. Our version has a deep gold color, firm malt background, but the emphasis of the Pilsner is the assertive hopping with hallertau, tettnang and Czech Saaz. It is dry hopped for additional aroma. 5.8% ABV, 40 International Bitterness Units

Pale Ale
The newest addition to our year round line. Our Pale Ale has a medium body, is orange to copper in color with a firm malt background, and emphasis on the hops with substantial hop flavor and a huge hop aroma.

Maibock
Maibock : The full bodied malty palate of this traditional German style bock beer carries flavors of honey and light toast. Fermented on the same lager strain as our Doppelbock, this light copper brew is offered in a very limited quantity this April. Available on draft only.

- Brewed with Mild Munich and Honey malts for flavor
- Modestly hopped with German Hallertau for a soft noble hop character
- Fermented on an authentic German lager yeast strain
- 6.5% abv.

Imperial IPA: This is a big American style IPA boasting 8% abv. A substantial malt backbone supports a huge hop character! Aged for three months on dry hops, this light orange monster was allowed to mellow while it picked up just about as much hop flavor and aromatics as any beer can realistically hold. Available on draft and in 22 oz. bottles.

- Brewed with Pale Ale, Munich and Caramel malts
- Hopped to the hilt with Warrior and Amarillo
- Dry hopped for three months on Simco for an intense aroma
- Fermented on a fruity british ale yeast strain
- 8% abv

Hefeweizen
For those of you who are riding the German beer trend recently established by our Doppelbock, Maibock, and Eisbock, the brewers of Legend are excited to offer our latest seasonal…Legend Hefeweizen!
This beer’s unusual name comes from the German weiss (wheat), and hefe (yeast). Therefore, a Hefeweizen is an unfiltered wheat beer. Weizen beers are somewhat an anomaly amongst German beers, in that they are fermented on ale yeast whereas virtually all other German beer styles are lagers.
The authentic German weizen yeast strain dominates the aroma and flavor profiles in this brew. If you suspect we added banana and clove to the beer, you are simply picking up qualities of this wonderful yeast. This is a beast of a yeast providing a power punch of quaffable qualities. The absence of filtration allows for maximum flavor and aroma.
Our Hefeweizen is mashed with 60% Pilsner barley malt, and 40% wheat malt. The wheat portion of the mash keeps the flavor crisp and the body light. The malt adds a complimentary bready sweetness and a fair golden color.
Czech Saaz hops are used minimally for balance and another dimension of spice.
Expect an intense aroma of fruit (mainly ripe bananas), and spice (cloves, pepper). The initial flavor is sharp and tart, yielding to a little malty sweetness in the middle. The finish is effervescent, dry, and quenching.
Legend Hefeweizen is the perfect match for light summer fare including salads, seafood, and grilled meats.
This, in fact, is an excerpt from an actual food and drink critic’s writings in a legitimate publication: “Man, we had Legend Hefeweizen served with dirt and it made the dirt taste pretty damn good!”
Legend Hefeweizen will be available on draft and in 22oz. bottles all summer. 5% abv.

Imperial Brown Ale
The brewers of Legend are proud to announce the release of our latest single batch special beer, Legend Imperial Brown Ale.
Legend Brown Ale has been our most popular beer for thirteen years running, so you might ask why we would feel compelled to make a different interpretation of the style. Our answer to that would be that Imperial Brown Ale is a different style altogether.
Consider Brown Ale a regular guy… well liked, has a loyal group of friends, holds down a career, never curses, mows his lawn on Saturday mornings. You know that guy. Seems squared away and content on the outside but something eats at that guy. Parts of the equation are missing.

Deep inside he’s always wanted to be…Imperial Brown Ale!!!

Bigger, stronger, smokes, drinks, fights (and wins), acts rude in public and at home, he carries a reputation and is seldom seen in one place for long. Imperial Brown Ale is like a Brown Ale Super-Hero!

“Imperial” in the beer world describes a beer that is simply BIGGER than the traditional style … Imperial Stout, Imperial IPA (ours will be out this fall ). These are ramped-up versions of the original style containing more malt, more hops, more alcohol, more flavor.

Legend Imperial Brown has an intense malt background including seven types of malt for a huge, rich backbone. Look for flavors of caramel, chocolate and coffee, backed up by dark fruit (raisin, currant). Overall undercurrents of bready, biscuit flavors last from start to finish.
Malt is nothing without hops and this beer offers a pretty serious hop balance in flavor and aroma. The bittering hop is Perle, a solid British style. This is accompanied by Chinook for the mid to late boil hop for a floral-citrus character. An intense fruitiness in aroma and flavor is due to an estery English strain of yeast.
In short, expect a big, brown, chewy beer with characteristics of a mild barleywine.

8.5% % ABV, 45 IBU, Fermented on English ale yeast. Available on draft and in 22 oz. bottles this summer into fall.

White Ale
In response to the overwhelming popularity of our recent Hefeweizen, the Legend brewers are proud to announce the release of our latest summer seasonal, Legend White Ale. The two styles are very similar, the Hefe being of German origin and the White (Wit) of Belgian origin. Both are brewed with a substantial proportion of wheat malt. They are also relatively light, quenching beers, left unfiltered for plenty of unique yeast character. The Wit was brewed on an authentic Belgian yeast strain (the same one used for our Tripel). Plenty of spicy yeast flavor blends nicely with actual spices added during the boil. We dosed this brew with a healthy amount of crushed coriander as well as dried orange peel for a distinct, refreshing aroma and flavor. One half of the malt bill is made up of wheat, which gives this beer a crisp, slightly tart flavor. Legend White Ale was brewed with 2-row malted barley, ground wheat, and flaked wheat. The hopping is minimal, consisting of German Hallertau and Czech Saaz. Bitterness comes from a combination of the hops and spices, aroma from the yeast and spices. Think of this beer as the “Gatorade” for your hot weather drinking pleasure, not too heavy, but still possessing plenty of flavor. An excellent partner for summer fare such as salads, grilled vegetables, and seafood. Alcohol is around 5% by volume. Legend White Ale will be available on draft and in 22 oz. Bottles through the Summer.

Dopplebock 2008
The brewers of Legend are proud to bring you this year's version of our traditional late winter/early spring seasonal beer Doppelbock. This is a strong German style lager brewed in January and aged 2 months.
The term "liquid bread" likely refers to this style of beer, as it traces it's origins to German monks who made strong, full bodied brews to be consumed in place of solid food during Lent. It is documented that four out of five monks surveyed preferred this warming alcoholic elixer to the likes of protein shakes or sports drinks based on it's social lubrication qualities and staying power.
Malt flavors shine in a Doppelbock, and hops take the back seat here. Our 2008 version makes use of Vienna and dark Munich malts as the base, also incorporating Cara-Munich, Aromatic, and Chocolate malts for a hefty, toasty beer in flavor and aroma.
Hops are used only for a counter to the malt sweetness. We used Tettenang hops for bitterness and Hallertau for flavor. Nor aroma hops were added. This beer was fermented on a Southern German Lager yeast, which is richer in flavor and aroma than our house lager yeast. We also used this wonderful yeast for a single batch of Maibock, available late this spring...more to come on that.
Expect a deep mahogany color, a rich malty aroma, and a complex flavor that truly celebrates malted barley and it's various forms. Look for plenty of biscuity and bready flavors, accented by caramelized sweetness, finishing smooth and mellow with hints of chocolate.
Legend Doppelbock is available on draft and in 22 oz. bottles now through mid-spring.

- Original Gravity: 19 Balling, Final Gravity 4 Balling
- Alcohol: 8% by volume
- 24 International Bittering Units (low hop bitterness and aroma)

Vienna Lager
The brewers of Legend would like to introduce you to a style of lager beer new to us but not altogether strange to us. Vienna Lager falls somewhere between our standard European "Legend Lager" and our very popular seasonal, "Oktoberfest". All three styles are brewed on our house lager yeast strain which remains clean from aroma to finish and allows malt and hop flavors to be showcased.
While our Lager is a pretty straight forward, delicate beer, Legend Oktoberfest is a very rich brew bringing plenty of malty sweetness, as well as body and just festiveness in general.
Legend Vienna Lager starts with a toasted malt aroma, low noble hop aroma, and a clean lager character with slight sulfur. The bright copper color is indicitave of the rich malt flavor, a mixture of sweetness and light toasted flavors mixing with caramel and eventually finishing dry and clean without any fruitiness or lingering sweetness. The body is medium with a smooth creaminess.

- Malts used are Vienna, Munich, and Caramel
- Hops are Tettenang and Hallertauer
- This beer is 5.5% alcohol by volume
- Available on draft only.

Look for this beer to appear again as time and brewery space allow.
